Job Description 

Title: Detailer 

Location: Cairo, Egypt 

 Overview:

This role is responsible for creating detailed 2D drawings, 3D building model, detailing reports and CNC files for all steel parts and components of commercial and industrial projects as per client specification and AIC detailing system. 

Scope of the Role:    

  • Review construction drawings (IFC) provided by client and client main specifications. Highlight any missing criteria and gain clarification on the same.  
  • Prepare request for information (RFI) email whenever required and send it to detailing group leader. 
  • Build the structure of the 3D model as per AIC detailing system using Tekla software utilizing the appropriate grades of materials and determining the types of treatment on the building members. 
  • Insert connections on the model after receiving and validating connection designs received from design department. 
  • Use appropriate grades of bolts. 
  • Determine plate type and specifications. 
  • Determine plate treatment. 
  • Implement numbering on the model in order to export drawings. 
  • Export drawings as per shop requirements and construction requirements from Tekla software. 
  • Review the exported drawings by editing the presentation and send them to detailing group leader to be checked. 
  • Export detailing reports required for fabrication from Tekla software such as (shipper list, bolt and Materials reports, Etc.). 
  • Prepare IFA package (Contains shop drawings, erection drawings, 3D model, detailing reports) and send it to detailing group leader in order to be sent to the client through document control. 
  • Create DXF & DSTV files required for fabrication for CNC machines. 
  • Prepare IFF package (Contains shop drawings, 3D model, detailing reports) and send it to detailing group leader in order to be sent to the factory through document control.  
  • Report daily Completion percentage to detailing group leader. 
  • Provide training for new employees in department whenever requested. 

Desired Skills and Experience 

Education:    Bachelors in Mechanical Engineering /Diploma in engineering. 
Experience:    A minimum of 2 years in structural steel construction Industrial and commercial projects. Fresher’s can also apply. 
Traits:   

 
  • Candidate can operate complex software, such as 3D modeling systems Tekla Structures or Xsteel and Microsoft office package. 
  • Must have knowledge of current building code and regulation. 
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings and contract specifications, use simple math. 
  • Good perception and visualization of structural assemblies. 
  • Must be highly detail oriented with good verbal and communication skills. 
  • Self-starter, motivated with ability to start and finish a project on time. 
  • Must be able to handle several projects at once with minimum help or guidelines from department. 
  • Experience / Interest in construction and/or structural design
